“The pump station [near Virtue Road] is handling the Little Turkey Creek drainage basin, from Watt Road into Fox Den. That pump station and the one East of there, just across the creek from the sewer treatment plant are approaching 40 years old and have to be replaced and upsized to prevent overflows. It is a $2.5 million project. We are also replacing 1,700 feet of force main coming out of that pump station near Virtue. That 1,700 feet of line is the reason the road was closed. There is little, or no room alongside the road through much of that 1,700 feet.
The contractor has been given until mid-August to complete the 1,700 feet of pipe work. It looks tight to us, but he says he can complete the pipe work by mid-August. Those residents in the 1,700 feet of Turkey Creek are being allowed to drive in and out, but other traffic is blocked for safety.
The pump station work will take 18 months, but should not be disruptive to traffic.”
